Curb Your Trash Can Area
 |
Before/After Collage |
My parents were in desperate need of a clean up and new gate to hide their trash cans plus some curb appeal is always nice to have to!
- Lava Rock (red), pavers, wall design Stones, and gate parts were all purchased from Lowes.
- Always measure out everything properly so you dont have to make several trips to the store!
- I removed the existing wood boards, gate, and unwanted broken tiles that were originally used for holding the trash cans up, removed all the weeds with a rake and shovel, removed about 4" of dirt and placed a black liner down to prevent weeds from growing up through the lava rocks. This also help keep the area maintenance free.
- Then I placed the wall rocks all along the edge of driveway to ensure there wouldn't be a shift in the wall later down the road. If you place them on the dirt, it will eventually move. Next, I cemented the new metal posts in the ground about 26" down) measured everything properly to provide floor clearance for gates and proper width).
Then
I placed about 3" of cement down as a base for pad area. To add some
design to it I laid the pavers down with about 1 1/2" space between each
one onto the cement and filled the space in with more cement (like
grouting tiles).
- Once all cement was dried and hardened I put the gates on, which I basically had to modify with wheels corners for extra support and ease. Plus you can use the locking wheels so the gates stay open for you.
